CHC Khaltse organises orientation training on STOP Diarrhoea campaign Healthcare workers trained on child diarrhoea prevention, ORS, Zinc therapy and community awareness

Community Health Centre (CHC), Khaltse, organised an orientation training programme on the STOP Diarrhoea Campaign (SDC) on July 10 under the supervision of Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khaltse, Dr. Javed Ahmad. The campaign will be observed from July 10 to August 21, 2026.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Javed Ahmad said the training aimed to strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers in the prevention, early identification and effective management of childhood diarrhoeal diseases. He highlighted key interventions, including the use of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), Zinc supplementation, exclusive breastfeeding, safe drinking water, improved sanitation, hand hygiene and community awareness.

The programme was attended by ASHA workers from across District Sham.

During the session, Paediatrician Dr. Splachen Gonboo emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts to reduce childhood illness and mortality caused by diarrhoeal diseases through timely treatment, preventive measures and active community participation. He also stressed the need to ensure adequate availability of ORS packets and Zinc tablets and to conduct awareness campaigns at the grassroots level.

ASHA Coordinator Tsewang Nurboo highlighted the objectives of the campaign and urged ASHA workers to actively engage with communities to spread awareness about diarrhoea prevention and healthy hygiene practices.

The training concluded with an interactive session in which participants discussed field-level challenges, shared experiences and explored strategies for the effective implementation of the STOP Diarrhoea Campaign across the Khaltse Block.
