CEC Wangyal and EC Agriculture call on L-G
Gyal P. Wangyal, CEC along with Phunchok Stanzin, Executive Councillor for Agriculture and Cooperative called on LG Mathur on April 8 at Raj Niwas.
They raised a number of issues including procurement of essential commodities from outside via Air/Road through proper mechanism devised by Divisional Commissioner through road by strict adherence to safety measures.
Wangyal requested for stocking of essential commodities in the market as well as through Cooperative Department as stocks have dried up during the winter months in Leh district. He apprised LG that varieties of vegetables being airlifted these days is not essential as of now and requested for supply of essential supplies to far-off villages as stocks have exhausted in far-off villages as per reports.
Besides discussion on extending of relief (rations/financial) to each deserving beneficiaries in the District through an extensive mechanism to local labours migrated from villages, destitute Tibetan refugees etc., extending relief (rations/financial) to the stranded poor pilgrims, patients, passengers and students in different parts of the country, making necessary provisions for bringing back all the stranded pilgrims, patients, passengers and students in different parts of the country after the lifting of lockdown were held during the meeting.
CEC also discussed the Plan/Budget formulation of Hill Council, Leh with LG and said that Hill Council Leh has started the process for formulation of plan/budget 2020-21. In this regard, a series of meetings have already been convened and concluded with respective ECs and Departments starting early March 2020.
“To avoid duplicity of works, Hill Council, Leh may be made aware of the work proposals projected under Special Development Package as well as UT Ladakh Plan sector”, added Wangyal.
CEC also stressed on timely tendering and execution of flood protection works in the district particularly in Nubra sub-division as flood protection works could not be carried out in summer due to rise of water in the rivers.
