CEC stresses on quality and timely completion of all roadworks

Inspection of the ongoing blacktopping work at Charu Palace- Gangles road under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) project was carried out by Dorjay Motup, CEC on July 19.
Stressing upon the engineers to ensure the quality of all the development works, Dorjay Motup said that the Council would not compromise on the standard of work at any cost.
Ven. Lobzang Nyantak, Councillor Upper Leh, S K Pandita, SE, PWD, Executive Engineer, R&B, experts of WAPCOS Ltd. and other engineers were present.
Dorjay Motup said that UIDSSMT is a prestigious scheme for Leh district under which many important developmental components like roads, water supply schemes, sewerage and drainages, solid waste management projects are being executed.
It was informed that under the project up-gradation and blacktopping of road from Dibi-tu to Sankar-Lamdon, BSNL to Old road and parking of Cooperative Super Market. While the blacktopping of Karzoo road is all set to start.
He reiterated that the Hill Council focuses to complete all works within a timeframe keeping the short working period in Ladakh in mind. He further emphasized upon the executing agencies to put every effort in completing the work on time with no delay.
Ven. Lobzang Nyantak extended gratitude for the timely blacktopping of the road. Pointing out some of the pending works in Upper Leh, he urged for timely completion.
LAHDC has engaged a reputed company WAPCOS Ltd. as a consultant for UIDSSMT project. The experts besides monitoring over the quality of works, also look after the criterion and quality of works ranging from the class of materials and other technical works.
Followed with that, Dorjay Motup also inspected the improvement and up-gradation of 2-lane Skalzangling-Agling road. The blacktopping work worth ₹19.74 crore has started which also includes Spituk- Choglamsar road having a total length of 11.84 km under Central Road Fund. The project is being executed by the Construction Division.
To check the quality of work, District Quality Control Committee comprising experts and officers were present on the site to monitor.
