CEC pulls up officials over slow pace of work Ambitious projects, yet slow progress

Chief Executive Councillor, Leh Dr Sonam Dawa and DC, Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G reprimanded officials for the slow pace of work of Leh beautification under UIDSSMT on 13th November. 

EC Works, Dorjey Motup, EC Agriculture, Tsering Wangdus, Councilor Upper Leh, SE PWD, Ex-en PHE, Ex-en Construction, Ex-en R&B, Ex-en PDD, Administrator MC, Leh, concern engineers and contractors were also present during the visit.

Initially, the team visited the site identified for land filling of solid waste treatment of non biodegradable garbage and for biodegradable garbage a compost plant will be constructed at the same site. 

DC suggested on hiring a technical consultant for the execution of the project to ensure its effective usage and endorsing his point CEC said that suitable technique should be used considering the climatic and geographic condition of the region.
 
He advised to involve local engineers and to consult some elderly farmers for more idea options. CEC also laid emphasis on the need to educate and inform the households about the compulsion of segregation of wet and dry garbage and directed Dr. Zaida to create awareness on a mass level involving councilors, area representatives, and institutions. 

DC urged the concern officers and engineers to pace up the work to complete it on time and gave his assurance to provide full financial support.

While inspecting Leh main bazaar, CEC directed the concerned department to channelize the waste water accumulating near polo-ground gate towards Skynos-gogsum into the existing drainage pit to avoid freezing of the road in pick winter months. 

Deputy Commissioner gave an ultimatum of one week to Ex-en PHE to cover pits that are left open in New-shara street causing danger to the public.

Dr. Dawa instructed Ex-en R&B to ensure proper levelling of streets and roads by the contractors which are left uneven after being dug for lying of pipes and he also advised Dr. Zaida to have a provision of cleaning of dry local toilets in their plan. 

He asked Dr. Zaida and Health officer, Leh, to work in coordination to stop restaurants people from throwing their garbage and food wastes into the drainage pits. DC ensured to provide police service to assist MC in restricting traffic flow and rehdas in the main bazaar. 

Dr Dawa expressed grave concern over the fear of over spilling of drainage water in main bazaar and instructed the concern authorities to sought alternative ways for its outlet at the earliest. DC gave the permission to Executive engineers PHE to resume pipe lying works in the main bazaar to address this issue and also assured Ex-en PDD to assist financially in timely procurement of cables and transformers its underground lying works. DC urged the officer to speed up their work & to stick to the commitments made to public by taking up a huge responsibility of Leh beautification project. The concern officers gave assurance to complete the beautification work of Leh main bazaar by end of June 2016. The team later also inspected the undergoing road works in housing colony, Leh.
