CEC, Leh, discusses security measures at monasteries in Leh
In response to growing security concerns at local monasteries in Leh, Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson convened a review meeting on December 14 to address the issue.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk; SSP Leh Shruti Arora; Additional Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Mohd; Dy SP Traffic Sonam Dorje; Nominated Councillor Ven. Konchok Tsepel; LGA President Gyen Tsering Angdu; Vice President Dorjey Stanzin; Joint Secretary Stanzin Nima; LBA Vice President Regzin Dorjey; Dy. Secretary Culture Stanzin Paljor, and DIO NIC Leh Tashi Tundup.
During the meeting, DIO NIC Tashi Tundup presented a proposal for installing a high-resolution CCTV surveillance system to bolster security at the monasteries. SSP Shruti Arora emphasized that the police are exploring all possible measures to address the recent incidents and assured full cooperation. She also highlighted plans to train security marshals engaged by the council to enhance their preparedness and efficiency.
CEC Tashi Gyalson stated that arrangements for private security personnel will be expedited once the concerned monasteries submit the required names and profiles. He added that installing High-Definition CCTV cameras will commence shortly to ensure heightened vigilance.
The meeting concluded with a consensus to implement these proposed upgrades promptly, with the aim of significantly enhancing the safety and security of local religious sites while preserving the cultural heritage of the region.
