Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson assessed ground reality to find solutions to land issues and disputes in Leh and its surrounding villages on February 1.
He visited Mankhang Phyang, Taru thang, Spituk Pharka, Agling, Fire Brigade land area, and MES Colony Dambuchan areas.
ADC Leh, Sonam Chosjor; BDC Chairman Leh, Dr. Skalzang Dorjey; Tehsildar Leh, Ataullah Khan, and concerned revenue officers and officials were present.
While interacting with the villagers of Mankhang Phyang, CEC Gyalson urged villagers to resolve land disputes at the village level and plan their lands systematically with a futuristic approach along with leaving aside lands for the government. He said this will help their coming generations in settling systematically and will also help the government in planning developmental initiatives at the respective settlements accordingly.
He directed Tehsildar Leh, Ataullah Khan to prepare a database of the lands occupied by the villagers based on which land will be distributed to the needy families who do not own any land there. Tehsildar Leh was asked to verify and demarcate LAHDC Leh’s land allotted to villagers, Tsogspas, govt./private agencies and individuals in Leh and its surrounding villages and ask to submit the report by the end of this month to LAHDC, Leh. So that LAHDC, Leh could make a bank of the lands under its jurisdiction with a proper mapping for future use in a systematic way.
To avoid encroachments on the government’s land, CEC Gyalson directed Revenue Department Leh to project a plan for fencing of all the lands which come under LAHDC Leh’s jurisdiction in the upcoming SDP plan.
