CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, chaired a meeting on December 19 at the Conference Hall, Council Secretariat, focusing on various developmental projects in Kargil town. The meeting deliberated on the construction of a multi-level car parking facility and discussed several development initiatives under different schemes.

Executive Councillor for Tourism, Councillor (Town, Poyen, Baroo), Director, Urban Ladakh Development, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Administrator of Municipal Committee Kargil, Tehsildar Kargil, and Executive Engineer of R&B, Executive Officer, MC Kargil, Assistant Director Tourism, attended the meeting.

Dr. Akhoon stressed the necessity of keeping the LAHDC Kargil informed and engaged in all developmental endeavors, emphasizing the importance of sectoral coordination. He highlighted the significance of enhancing Kargil town's aesthetics under Svadesh Darshan 2.0 and outlined specific projects to be implemented under ULB and Tourism schemes, including footpaths across various Municipal Committee wards and installations of sewage treatment plants.

The development of a multi-storied car parking facility at the existing bus stand will be overseen by the Urban Local Body. Dr. Akhoon urged officials to devise a comprehensive plan to address traffic congestion in town, enhance the beauty of bridges, create cycling tracks toward Honaki Poyen, establish a park near the power house in Poyen, and construct a footbridge connecting the circular road to Poyen and Baroo-Andoo.

He encouraged close collaboration among agencies to ensure organized development, prevent haphazard execution, and meet the stipulated timelines, thereby minimizing inconvenience to citizens.
