Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program held in Leh to empower and support girl children
In honor of International Girl Child Day, the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, under Mission Shakti, organized a "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" program at the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Chuchot and the Community Health Center (CHC) in Khaltse.
The event was attended by doctors, hospital staff, and pregnant mothers, emphasizing the importance of gender equity within the community.
The program featured a keynote address by Gender Specialist Kunzang Angmo, who highlighted the significance of celebrating girl children and promoting gender sensitization. She engaged the audience with insights on the societal benefits of empowering girls.
Additionally, Thinles Gyurmed, a financial literacy specialist, presented an overview of the Mission Shakti schemes, explaining how these initiatives can support and enhance women's financial independence. Diskit Ladol, District Coordinator, expressed gratitude to the hospital representatives for their invaluable support.
The Block Medical Officer (BMO) praised the initiative and encouraged ongoing efforts to host similar events that promote awareness and support for women and girls in the district. The event culminated in a cake-cutting ceremony and the distribution of care kits to pregnant mothers in attendance, symbolizing a commitment to the health and well-being of both mothers and their children.
