A one-day community-based disaster awareness cum training programme was organised by District Disaster Management Agency (DDMA) Kargil on March 10 at Higher Secondary School, Shargole, Kargil.

SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services and Red Cross representatives imparted training to the volunteers on different aspects of search and rescue methods, first aid, basic firefighting and other ways to deal with different kind of disasters.

Ghulam Mehdi, Tehsildar, Mehfooz Ali, Zonal Education Officer, Block Medical Officer, Naib Tehsildar, officers of the SDRF, Red Cross and Fire and Emergency Services and many others were present.

A series of such awareness and preparedness programmes are going to be held in other parts of the district in the days to come.
