A one-day awareness campaign on 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' was organised by Eliezer Joldan Memorial College on March 24. 

Chief Guest of the occasion, Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk shared that maintaining demographic balance is equally important as maintaining ecological balance. He expressed that in the Himalayan region the problem of sex ratio is not severe as compared to other states but everyone should know about the importance of a balanced sex ratio.

He also shared that the outgoing students of the college should focus more on entrepreneurship and generate self-employment. He stressed that youth festivals and skill development workshops should be organised to apprise the youths about the opportunities and possibilities of becoming successful entrepreneurs. 

He assured Hill Council’s assistance to make the college library fully equipped.
