Application forms submission date extended for Post-Matric scholarship
Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India has extended the dates for students of Ladakh applying for a post-matric scholarship. The last date for accepting applications has been changed to January 24 because of the request from the Department of Social & Tribal Welfare, UT of Ladakh.
The students of distance learning (correspondence) who were not able to apply online for the scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal, NSP can now apply online (https://scholarship.gov.in/) up to 24th January. The necessary modifications were made in the portal by the Ministry in coordination with the Department of Social & Tribal Welfare, Ladakh after it was flagged by some students of distance learning from Leh and Kargil that the NSP portal was not accepting their applications for the post-matric scholarship.
Students belonging to a Scheduled Tribe, who are pursuing a course from a recognized institution for which qualification is Matriculation/Class X or above and whose parental income does not exceed Rs.2.50 lakhs per annum, are eligible for the Post-Matric Scholarship by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The scholarship includes the payment of compulsory fees charged by educational institutions and the maintenance amount varying from Rs. 230 to Rs.1200 per month, depending upon the course of study pursued by the student.
The students can apply for the scholarship online on the National Scholarship Portal, and the scholarship is transferred directly to the student’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
