Anganwadi workers, helpers association calls for shutdown strike in Kargil

Supporting the state level strike of J&K Anganwadi Workers & Helpers Association, the association branch in Kargil also went on shutdown strike on February 9 in Kargil.

The executive body submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Imteeyaz Ahmad Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil.

Imteeyaz Ahmad Khan assured the association to forward the memorandum copy to the Chief Minister.

The president of the association while talking to media said that their demand is for an enhancement of their honorarium which is mere ₹3,200 from the last two decades and is not sufficient to meet the ends.

“When the government can sanction the 10 % SDA to the employees keeping in view the topographical and demographical difficulties of Ladakh region, I think they should also keep consideration towards the miseries of the Angarwari workers and helpers working in this region also”, she said.

They further told that they have also demanded to sanction of 25 more centers already proposed by the district administration and creation of more supervisor posts which is still pending as well as the experience of 5/10 years for graduate and matriculate Anganwadi workers for promotion/engagement as a  supervisor should be counted from the date of engagement.
