Advisor, Dr. Pawan Kotwal inaugurates SIDCO’s energy hub in Leh Ladakh to soon start Hydrogen based vehicles on pilot basis
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh inaugurated the Energy Hub (Petrol Pump) established by Sindhu Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) at SIDCO Transport Depot, New Bus Stand in Leh on August 10.
Dr. Kotwal said that the inauguration of the Energy Hub stands as a testament to SIDCO's commitment to sustainable progress and innovation. It signifies a significant stride towards Ladakh's holistic development, bolstering its stance as a model for environmentally conscious advancements.
Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Managing Director of SIDCO provided a comprehensive overview of the organization's initiatives and progress. He highlighted the rapid advancements that SIDCO has been making in enhancing the lives of the Ladakhi population, underlining its pivotal role in driving the growth and development of the region and providing employment.
Commending the tireless efforts of SIDCO, Dr. Kotwal expressed his appreciation for the collaborative approach adopted by various departments and stakeholders. He applauded the successful endeavours of SIDCO, which have now become integral components of Ladakh's administration. Dr. Kotwal also lauded the upcoming eco-friendly initiative led by concerned officers: the trial run of Hydrogen-fuelled buses in Ladakh. These buses utilize hydrogen and air to generate electricity, emitting only water as a byproduct.
Dr. Kotwal accentuated SIDCO's dedication to making Ladakh a carbon-free region, particularly through the introduction of electric vehicles. He emphasized that hydrogen-powered buses, like electric buses, employ fuel cells to produce electricity without any carbon emissions.
The advisor emphasized the importance of efficiently managing these valuable assets within SIDCO's purview. As part of his visit, he conducted an on-site inspection of the electric bus stand.
