Admn Secretary Bhanu Prabha inaugurates Govt Middle School Skurbuchan as Ladakh Model School
Administrative Secretary, School Education Department (SED), UT Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha (IAS), on May 9 inaugurated Government Middle School Skurbuchan as Ladakh Model Middle School Skurbuchan during a grand ceremony held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Sham District, Kunzes Angmo (JKAS).
The event was attended by Director, Health Department, Dr. Tashi Thinlas; District Education Planning Officer (DEPO) Leh, Phunstog Dorjey; Nodal Officer, Ladakh Model School, Chamba Stander; ZEO Khaltse, Nawang Namgial; Village Education Committee (VEC) Chairman, Lhundup Dorjey; Goba of Skurbuchan village, Tsering Paldan, along with staff, parents, students, and members of the local community.
The inauguration ceremony was marked by a vibrant cultural programme presented by the school, featuring traditional dances performed by students, teachers, and parents. Students also showcased performances on various Ladakhi songs, making the celebration a memorable occasion for all present.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries congratulated the school on its elevation as a Model School and appreciated the efforts of the staff, students, and the local community in strengthening the institution.
Addressing the gathering, Administrative Secretary Bhanu Prabha said it was a proud and happy day for the department to inaugurate the institution as a Model School. Highlighting the rich legacy of the school, she noted that the institution has produced distinguished alumni and expressed hope that future students would continue to take the school’s reputation to greater heights.
During her visit, the Administrative Secretary also inspected several educational institutions across the Sham area, including Government Middle School Saspol, Higher Secondary School Skurbuchan, Government High School Dhomkar Dho, and PM SHRI Government Middle School Takmachik.
At all the schools, she reviewed the available infrastructure facilities and assessed the overall functioning of the institutions. She interacted with parents, Village Education Committee members, teachers, and school heads to understand the challenges being faced by the schools.
At Government Middle School Saspol, she inspected the status of the school building at its new location, while at Higher Secondary School Skurbuchan, she reviewed the progress of the new school building under construction.
During her visit to Government High School Dhomkar Dho, she also planted an apple sapling with a student to mark the school’s inclusion as a Model School.
The Administrative Secretary held detailed interactions with staff, parents, and students at the institutions and sought feedback regarding the functioning of the schools, infrastructural and academic requirements, and various challenges being faced by them.
She assured that the department remains committed to strengthening educational facilities and addressing genuine concerns for the betterment of students and schools across the region.
