A public meeting was convened by Avny Lavasa, DC to set up a segregation and management centre for solid wastes February 9 at Diskit Nubra.

Tsering Wangchuk, Councilor, Diskit Kunzang Lotos, Councilor, Hunder, Sonam Norbu, SDM Nubra,  Tsering Paldan, ACD, Leh, Jigmet Raftan, Tehsildar all Sub Divisional level officers, Shopkeepers and other stakeholders also attended the meeting.

Avny Lavasa said that the main purpose of setting up of this segregation centre is to involve the general people in this drive and make them well learned about how to manage solid wastes with a manner to reuse of generated waste and its recycling process. 

Looking at the importance of this project in creating a health secure environment for all, she sought people’s participation at the larger way and contributes towards keeping the society and environment neat and clean.

Avny Lavasa mentioning the success story of few months old Secondary segregation unit at Solar Colony Leh said that it is with the active participation of local people presently doing very well in managing solid wastes in Choglamsar with a visible cleanliness in the entire area.

The councillors of Deskit and Hunder, SDM Sonam Norbu and ACD Tsering Paldan also spoke on the occasion and educated people about the concept of establishing Segregation Unit in Diskit which is likely to open by April 2018.
