Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, on February 11 conducted surprise visits to various government offices in Baroo to review the functioning and implementation of the E-Office system.

He was accompanied by District Informatics Officer, Kargil, Iftikhar Hussain. The team visited the offices of the Chief Project Engineer, PDC (Civil Wing); Executive Engineer, PDD; Executive Engineer, PHE; Divisional Forest Officer; and the Election Office located in the DC Office Complex.

During the visits, the ADC reviewed the status of E-Office operations in the respective offices and interacted with officers and staff to assess the level of adoption and utilisation of the digital platform. He highlighted the need for regular monitoring, especially to support employees who have been newly onboarded onto the E-Office system.

The ADC sought detailed information regarding the usage of E-Office, pendency of files and communications, and challenges faced by staff during the transition from manual to digital file processing. He stressed that effective implementation of the E-Office system is essential to ensure transparency, efficiency, accountability, and timely disposal of official matters.

Emphasising the vision of paperless governance, Imteeaz Kacho directed all concerned officers to make optimal use of the E-Office platform and minimise manual paperwork. Offices that have already submitted applications for onboarding were instructed to follow up with the IT Department to ensure early completion of the process.

Stating that adoption of modern technology is crucial for improving administrative efficiency, the ADC directed heads of offices to ensure that all officials are fully trained and active on the E-Office platform. He added that such initiatives would strengthen digital governance and improve service delivery in the district.

Earlier, on February 10, the ADC had also visited various sections of the DC Office to assess the effective implementation of the E-Office system. He was accompanied by District Informatics Officer Iftikhar Hussain and Assistant Director, Tourism, Muhammad Ali Tak.

It is pertinent to mention that the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, issued an order on February 5 constituting inspection teams at the District Headquarters, headed by the ADC, and at Sub-Divisional Headquarters, headed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrates, to ensure effective implementation and proper functioning of the E-Office system across the district. The teams have been directed to conduct frequent inspections and ensure implementation in letter and spirit.

With support from the IT Department, the District Administration has conducted E-Office training programmes for employees at the District Headquarters as well as in the sub-divisions.
