The 9th ‘Tri-Services Armed Forces Veterans Day’ was celebrated by the Indian Army in Leh on January 14, 2025, with a grand function honoring the valor and sacrifices of veterans.

The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd), along with Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, SC**, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, and senior veterans paid tribute to the fallen heroes of Ladakh by laying wreaths at the Hall of Fame, Leh.
Veterans Day has been celebrated nationwide on January 14 every year since 2017 to honor and express gratitude to the veterans for their service to the nation. The date commemorates the superannuation of Field Marshal KM Cariappa, Order of British Empire (OBE), the first Indian Chief of the Army Staff, in 1953.

The main event at Rinchen Auditorium, Leh, witnessed the participation of approximately 650 retired armed forces personnel from Ladakh. Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to the veterans for their invaluable contributions and sacrifices for the nation. He assured them of the civil administration’s wholehearted support in resolving their concerns. The Lieutenant Governor also commended all ranks of the Fire and Fury Corps for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the welfare and development of veterans and their families in Ladakh.

As part of the event, seven veterans were honored with the Lieutenant Governor's Certificate of Appreciation for their distinguished service to society. Veer Naris of Ladakh were also felicitated by the First Lady of Ladakh, recognizing their resilience and sacrifices.

Help desks were set up to assist attendees in addressing various issues faced by veterans and their dependents. Complex cases requiring further resolution were noted for subsequent action and follow-up.

In addition to the main event, similar celebrations were held at ten remote locations across Ladakh, ensuring widespread participation and outreach.

The annual celebration of Veterans Day on January 14 is a testament to the Indian Army's unwavering commitment to fostering and strengthening its deep bond with veterans, honoring their contributions to the nation.
