45-day winter camp at Maan village concludes, promoting holistic learning

The 45-day winter camp at Maan village, Pangong, successfully concluded on February 18, marking a significant step towards alternative education and holistic development for local students. The camp was organized by Royal Enfield and SLC, with the support of Councillor Chushul Constituency, Konchok Stanzin, and executed by Youth Accord Maan Pangong.
Held from January 5 to February 18, the camp provided a unique educational platform beyond traditional classroom learning, incorporating experiential and skill-based activities. The closing ceremony was attended by Councillor Konchok Stanzin, who praised the initiative for its impact on youth empowerment and community engagement.
Students actively participated in various co-curricular activities aimed at enhancing skills and fostering personal growth, including, Singing and dancing to enhance artistic expression, Team-building exercises to develop leadership and collaboration skills, Personality development workshops to boost confidence and self-awareness, Ice hockey training to promote physical fitness and sportsmanship, Exploration of Ladakh’s flora and fauna to deepen environmental awareness, Field visits and border tours to highlight the region’s cultural and strategic significance and Cultural activities to preserve and celebrate Ladakh’s rich traditions
The camp served as a transformative learning experience, encouraging hands-on engagement and practical skill development. Key outcomes of the initiative included, Introduction of ice hockey training, inspiring students to embrace a new sport while fostering teamwork and discipline, Field visits and border tours, offering deeper insights into Ladakh’s rich history, geography, and strategic importance and Cultural activities, playing a crucial role in preserving and promoting local traditions among the younger generation.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Councillor Konchok Stanzin praised the collaborative efforts of Royal Enfield, SLC, and Youth Association Maan Pangong in making this initiative a reality. “This camp has provided a much-needed platform for our youth to learn, grow, and connect with their heritage while developing essential life skills,” he stated.
Encouraged by the camp’s success, stakeholders hope to expand similar initiatives in the future, ensuring continued opportunities for holistic education in Ladakh.
