38 farmers participate in Khet Bachao Abhiyan and natural farming demonstration at Nang
The Agriculture Department, Leh Zone, organized a Khet Bachao Abhiyan programme along with a demonstration on Natural Farming Practices under the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at Nang village on June 17, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Leh.
The programme aimed to create awareness among farmers about sustainable agricultural practices, soil health management, and the importance of adopting natural farming techniques to reduce dependence on chemical inputs.
Tsering Dolkar, Agriculture Extension Officer, Leh, delivered an awareness session on various agricultural schemes being implemented by the department for the welfare of farmers. She also conducted practical demonstrations on the preparation and application of Jeevamrit and Beejamrit, important inputs used in Natural Farming to enhance soil fertility, improve crop health, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr. Diskit Dolkar, Scientist, KVK Leh, briefed the participants about the objectives and significance of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan. She emphasized the need for protecting agricultural land, conserving natural resources, and adopting eco-friendly farming practices to ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.
The participating farmers actively interacted with the resource persons and expressed keen interest in adopting Natural Farming practices in their fields. A total of 38 farmers participated in the programme.
