2nd National Lok Adalat in Kargil disposes of 381 cases, settles over ₹19.7 lakh
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kargil organised the 2nd National Lok Adalat on May 9, while Pre-Lok Adalat sessions were conducted from May 4 to May 8.
During the Lok Adalat, six benches were constituted to resolve different categories of cases through amicable settlement and compromise. The cases included criminal compoundable matters, civil disputes, cheque bounce cases under the NI Act, bank recovery cases, MACT matters, labour disputes, matrimonial issues, compoundable electricity and water bill cases, land acquisition matters, revenue cases, municipal cases, BSNL bill disputes, traffic matters, and pre-litigation cases at the District Court Complex, Kurbathang Kargil.
The first bench was presided over by Sheikh Gowher Hussain, Chairman DLSA/Principal District and Sessions Judge (PDSJ) Kargil, while the second bench was headed by Tsewang Phuntsog, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Kargil. The third bench was presided over by Chemit Yurgyal, Secretary DLSA Kargil.
Similarly, the fourth, fifth, and sixth benches of the National Lok Adalat were conducted at the tehsil level in Sankoo, Drass, and Zanskar under the chairmanship of Chairman TLSC Sankoo/Drass/Zanskar, Sadiq Ali Wazir.
A total of 415 cases were referred to the National Lok Adalat, out of which 381 cases were successfully disposed of through settlement.
An amount of ₹19,77,021 was recovered as settlement amount, while ₹1,20,600 was realised as fine during the proceedings.
