22 teams participate in 4th war hero memorial archery tournament

A total of 22 teams comprising 88 archers from different villages and regions participated in the 4th Tashi Paljor and Lotus Zangpo War Hero Memorial archery tournament on March 20 in Sakti.
The tournament was organised by Traditional Archery Society of Chemsak.
Dorjey Motup, CEC, chief guest lauded the growing enthusiasm among the youth of Ladakh in the field of archery and said that it opened a new avenue to exhibit archery talents of local youth both at the National and International level. And as such, the youth needed to get more polished with international archery rules and techniques.
He said that this kind of tournament provides a platform for the youths of different villages to meet and interact which helps in strengthening the understanding and relationship between them.
He further assured to extend every possible support from LAHDC to develop infrastructure for further promotion of archery game.
Shey Archery Club lifted the 4th Tashi Paljor and Lotus Zangpo war hero memorial archery championship trophy. Thiksay win over team and Sabu-Fu Archery Club stood 2nd and 3rd runner-up.
Gyal P Wangyal, EC Health was the guest of the honour on the occasion while Rinchen Bayshu, President, Ladakh Archery Association was also present as a special guest.
Referring to the commendable efforts of Ladakh Archery Association in bringing up the level of archery sports in Ladakh, Gyal P Wangyal expressed the need to get Ladakh Archery Association affiliated with J&K Sports Council so that the Ladakhi players would get easy access to the International events.
He also spoke about the supreme sacrifice of 1999 war heroes Tashi Paljor and Lotus Zangpo of Sakti village.
