NLM to fight Hill Council elections
New Ladakh Movement (NLM) will contest in the coming Council elections. Before going into the election mode, the NLM has started their groundwork with proper planning since one and a half year. The team are already camping in different villages. Speaking to the media, the party announced that it would contest Hill Council elections.
Sonam Wangchuk, Party Chief Convener said that New Ladakh Movement, after one and a half years of its formation has decided to take a decisive and uniting initiative in the formation of a clean youth lead government in Ladakh in the forthcoming LAHDC elections.
"Ladakhi people are suffering due the disunity among our leaders and political parties," reads the press release.
More importantly, the party appears ready for the metamorphosis it requires even as it again changes the rules of the game and others scramble to catch up.
The new Hill Council will comprise of at least 80% youth out of which 40% of the seats will be reserved for women.
The anti-corruption will remain its highest priority. The NLM manifesto promised to uproot corruption, Changes in Education as Government schools will become vibrant and world-class especially in the villages, Focus on sustainable Agriculture, to redistribute Tourism, Ladakh’s Digital connectivity through reliable broadband facilities & to prevent Ladakh in every way from natural calamities through Disaster preparedness.
In short NLM wants to put Ladakh back on the path of self-reliance, selflessness, and dignity and for this we want to focus on improving our Education, Economy and Ecology.
It was also stressed in the press conference that the NLM was not simply a political party, but a people’s movement.
Growing from strength to strength, the party is now setting sights in the region, many youngsters have also boosted the party’ morale and image by joining the party.
