Municipal Committee announces ₹ one lakh to the cleanest locality

A week long cleanliness drive starting from 12 to 19th November was marched from Polo ground, Leh. The mission to clean Leh was organized by Municipal Committee Leh headed by Dr. Zahida Bano under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan.
The cleanliness drive was flagged off by CEC, Dr. Sonam Dawa along with the EC Work- Dorjay Mutup, EC Agriculture Tsering Wangdus, EC Animal Husbandry Mumtaz Hussain, and councilors. Heads of various departments, the staff of Municipal Committee and Nambardars from different areas of Leh were also present on the occasion.
CEC said that the unity and cooperation of every Ladakhi towards cleanliness will make Ladakh one of the cleanliest regions in the whole world. He stressed on keeping the offices and departments clean and hygienic. He urged all the head of the department and officers to initiate and put their concern on the cleanliness. He appealed every Ladakhi to cooperate in keeping their locality and surrounding clean. He asked Dr. Zahida to make a supervision committee to supervise the locality for a longer period to declare the cash prize.
He further added that the council assures to look on the creation of post and funds to make the cleanliness mission successful. Dr. Dawa ensures to keep Leh clean as he has taken MC under his portfolio.
Chief Executive Officer ,Development Authority, Leh Dr. Zahida Bano appealed all the people to cooperate with MC in keeping Leh clean. She announced a cash prize of ₹ One Lakh to the cleanest locality. She urged the public to use the waste bin in the best way, by segregating the dry and wet garbage in a separate bin.
EC Works- Dorjey Motup, Councilor Upper Leh- Gen. Lobzang Nyantak and Leh Goba also spoke on the day.
