Mahabodhi residential school celebrates its 23rd annual function

 Mahabodhi Residential School celebrated its annual day on 30th October.  Nawang Rigzin Jora MLA was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Ven. Lobzang Nyantak Councillor Upper Leh was the Guest of Honour.
 
Principal, Tsewang Dolma presented the welcome speech.  A slide show presentation of the school activities were also showcased, followed by the prayer of compassion. Head Boy Mipham Jigmet and Head Girl Thupstan Angmo read out the achievements of the year and functions of council members and her own experience respectively.
 
Students from KG to 10th class participated in the cultural programme. The highlights of the programme were singing performance by visually impaired children and 'nukad natak' that gave awareness about providing equal opportunity to the girl child, spreading the concept of swachh bharat, and loving the animals. Similarly, musical performances with waste materials like bins, bottles, wooden sticks by senior students and showcasing products like lamps, barometer etc made out of waste material reflecting the concept of recycling in order to protect the environment were also some of the interesting performances.
 
Nawang Rigzin Jora and Ven. Lobzang Nyantak both appreciated the work of the school and especially to the contribution of Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, the Chairman of the school.
  
The event ended with prize distribution. Kunzang Angmo who has been serving in the school for last 20 years as Hindi Teacher was given appreciation memento. Lobzang Rabgyas and Stanzin Chondol were awarded for being selected in District Handball team. Best outgoing student award were given to Mipham Jigmet and Thupstan Angmo and the most honest student award was given to Salem Javed. 
 
In the end, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena thanked the guest and parents.  He requested the people to continue their support to the school. 
Mahabodhi Residential School was established in the year 1992 with 25 girls selected from the remote regions of Ladakh. Today the school is a CBSE affiliated school with a total number of 510 students and 34 staff. 
 
SSP Dr Sunil Gupta, Congress District President Tsering Samphel, Geshes Konchok Phandey,  Morup Namgyal, Dorjey Motup, former MP P. Namgyal and President Woman Alliance were the special guests. The parents of the children were also present during the annual day celebration.
