Hill Council, Leh conducts mass cleanliness drive
Paying tribute to the Father of the Nation on his 150th birth anniversary, a mass cleanliness drive was organised by Hill Council, Leh led by Gyal P Wangyal, CEC on October 2 at Council Secretariat.
The cleaner and sweepers at Council Secretariat were also honoured on the day.
Tsering Sandup, Deputy Chairman, Executive Councillor, Councillors and staff of Council Secretariat participated in the cleaning drive.
Gyal P Wangyal said that like other parts of the nation, Hill Council, Leh is inspired by the leadership and initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and decided to start this drive from Council on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Talking about the 'Plastic Free India' and to weed out single-use plastic call given by PM Modi, he said that Hill Council Leh is also geared up for every effort to make it successful.
He further added that implementation of the project 'Tsang-da' in all the blocks of Leh district and Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI) are some of the initiatives already taken by Council to free Ladakh from different types of pollution.
Premises of PWD Circle Leh including PHE, Construction, R&B, I&FC division was also cleaned up.
