District Legal Service Authority, Leh celebrated the National Law Day for the first time in Leh, on 26th November at New Millennium School, Dambuchan, Leh. The objective to organize the day is to recognize the importance of principles which form our constitution.
DLSA Chairman District and Session Judge- Rajinder Sapru, DLSA member -SSP Dr. Sunil Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate ,Leh, Spalzes Angmo, Munsiff Nubra- Phuntsog Angmo, Munsiff Khalatse ,Wangyal Tsering, Senior Prosecuting Officer (SPO) Nawang Nurboo, Bar Association President ,Gonbo Stobgyal, Advocates, Councilors, District Officers, Religious heads, Sarpanch, Panch, Nambardars, students and teachers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajinder Sapru said that in the district, the matrimonial dispute is a matter of concern in the Ladakhi society. He said that the ratio of the disputes is in large number as compared to the population and we should put an effort to know the reason behind this. These matrimonial disputes have an effect on the children at most. Apart from the registered cases, there might be lot more cases which happen behind the veil, one of the reasons behind this can be the less awareness among the people. He added the importance of Juvenile home in Ladakh.
SSP Dr. Sunil Gupta also a member of DLSA states that the unemployment, alcoholism, traffic and natural disaster are the four major problems in Leh. He informed that, in last year around 167 cases were registered in Leh out of which 107 were accident cases and 10 cases are crimes against the women. However in current year, around 137 cases are registered till November, out of which 4 cases are against women. One of the reducing crime cases against women is the Women Helpline cell where non cognizable cases are handled in priority.
Detail information on importance of National Day, Juvenile Justice Care & Protection of Children Act 2013, Fundamental rights and duties , Women Law ; their Right and Protection, Right to information Act, Fundamental rights and obligation under environmental law, Consumer protection act, Rights and Remedies against Police Action and role of police were presented by Munsiff and advocates.
The speakers stressed the importance to have the standardized tourism, juvenile home in the district and many more. The event winded up with the vote of thanks by CJM, Spalzes Angmo.
