Children's Theatre workshop concluded

The 10-day Children Theatre Workshop organized by Cultural Academy, Leh concluded on 4th April. The concluding function was chaired by Executive Councilor for Tourism Gyurmet Dorjey.
The workshop was attended by 36 students from various government and private schools of Leh. The workshop was organized particularly for the children from 8th to 12th standards with an objective of inculcating values, discipline and theater in education.
Welcoming the guests Tsewang Paljor, SOC-G1, Leh said the workshop was organised with an aim to develop personality of children.
The noted Ladakhi Theatre expert and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, Sh. Mipham Otsal imparted training to the students during 10-day long workshop.
Addressing the concluding function, the EC,Tourism Gyurmet Dorjey said that it is very common to talk about the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh but need of the hour is to act practically with full dedication and responsibility so that various cultural aspects including theatre could be preserved.
Expressing great satisfaction and happiness over the confidence and performance exhibited during the function by the participating students, EC Gyurmet Dorjey assured that LAHDC will extend all possible help for such fruitful workshops.
Echoing the same view, Mipham Otsal pointed out that imparting training on theatre from the grass root level is a must for overall development. Giving example of developed countries he said,these countries gives priority to theatre education for nation building.
He termed his ten days experience with the students a very precious and fruitful one, and expressed his confidence that students who participated in the theatre workshop will play a constructive role in Ladakhi society in days to come.
Few participating students who spoke on the occasion termed the workshop very fruitful for developing their discipline, concentration, physical strength, confidence and to develop control over different languages and demanded for organizing such workshops in future too.
Such workshops are significant in culturally rich States like Ladakh as it would instill cultural elements to young minds. They would carry the legacy forward left by the past and present cultural icons and scholars.
