Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, attended the valedictory ceremony of the State-Level Kala Utsav 2025 on November 27 at DIET Leh.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the festival celebrates the artistic excellence and cultural expression of students across the Union Territory. He noted that Kala Utsav embodies the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat by bringing together diverse traditions and nurturing cultural unity. Describing the Utsav as more than just a competition, he said it offers a vibrant platform for children to express creativity, explore identity, and remain connected to their cultural roots. “Art connects us, inspires different thinking, and strengthens our understanding of values,” he remarked.

He reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a New India is firmly anchored in youth creativity, innovation, and cultural pride. India’s future strength, he said, lies in the imagination, skills, and heritage upheld by its young generation.

Kavinder Gupta appreciated the Ministry of Education for promoting art and culture in schools through initiatives such as Kala Utsav and Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, which foster national unity, respect for diversity, and cross-cultural learning.

Expressing pride in Ladakh’s consistent performance at the national level, he praised the dedication of teachers, parents, and students. “The achievements of our children reflect the collective commitment of Ladakh’s education community,” he said.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s transformative vision, the Lt Governor stated that youth-led innovation, cultural pride, and the creative economy are central to building a modern and confident India. “Modi ji believes that India’s strength lies in its rich heritage and the energy of its young generation. When children embrace creativity and remain connected to culture, India moves closer to realising its global aspirations,” he added.

He further noted that programmes like Kala Utsav contribute directly to the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the ongoing cultural renaissance across the nation. The exceptional talent displayed by Ladakhi youth, he said, demonstrates their potential to shape India’s future.

Congratulating all participants, he said their performances reflect the artistic richness of Ladakh. Urging students to carry forward Ladakh’s values of simplicity, discipline, and hard work, he encouraged them to continue learning, growing, and refining their skills.

Reaffirming the Administration’s support, the Lt Governor said the government remains committed to providing improved facilities and opportunities for students’ artistic and academic growth. He expressed confidence that Ladakhi students will continue to excel nationally and internationally, bringing pride to the Union Territory.

Later, the Lt Governor felicitated winners in 12 different categories with mementos and certificates. He also interacted with students and honoured mentors and judges from Leh and Kargil, including renowned Ladakhi singer Dorjey Stakmo and Rahula from Kargil.

Administrative Secretary, School Education Department, Bhanu Prabha, informed that the top performers from the district-level Kala Utsav competitions in Leh and Kargil were showcasing their talents on the concluding day of the State-Level event at DIET. She added that these top performers will represent Ladakh at the National Kala Utsav 2026 in 12 different categories as cultural ambassadors of the region.

Students from Mahabodhi Residential School Leh, Government School Garkon, and PM SHRI High School Chumathang showcased cultural performances, adding vibrant colours to the closing ceremony.
