A poetic symposium themed, ‘Environment and Carbon- neutral’ was organised by the Academy of Arts, Culture & Languages, Leh on August 9 at Lotsava Auditorium.

The Bi-monthly journals and publications ‘Sheeraza’ and the first Ladakhi Publications of 1976 ‘Shesrig Melong’ translated in English were also released as a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’.

The book ‘Shesrig Melong’ (Mirror of Culture) 1976 is translated by Dr. Nawang Tsering, Former Principal, Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Leh-Ladakh & edited by Dr. Thupstan Norboo, Editor of Cultural Academy, Leh. The publication comprises important articles on varied aspects of Ladakh like art, culture, literature, geography, history, script, folklore, painting, architecture, performing, arts, ancient arts, and others.

Dr. Jamyang Gyaltson said that the poetic symposium should be organized more often. He said that the dissemination of information on important topics through an artistic form is praiseworthy. Similarly, Dr. Nawang Tsering added that translation is important to disseminate the information to a larger audience.

Dr. Thupstan Norboo briefed about the publication and welcomed the gathering.
