Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur inaugurated the 4th edition of Enchanting Ladakh on January 2 at Dilli Haat. 86 artisans, craftspeople, and entrepreneurs from Leh and Kargil are taking part in the 15-day event.

LG Mathur appreciated artisans from different parts of Ladakh, particularly from the remote areas, for showcasing their work. He stated that exposure is being provided to artisans and craftspeople from Ladakh to showcase and promote their work in Delhi and other parts of the country. Stating that the event at Dilli Haat is an important occasion for the artisans from Ladakh, he said that such platforms are perfect opportunities for them in dealing with and developing commercial relationships with the rest of the country.

He also appreciated youth from Ladakh involved in the processing of pashmina wool and setting up of different enterprises/units in the food processing industry such as sea buckthorn, etc. Such involvements, he stated, will help in the overall development of Ladakh and the country.

LG Mathur suggested that the stalls of the Ladakhi artisans may be set up in a cluster in the next edition of Enchanting Ladakh to provide an overall integrated look. 

Later, he inspected the stalls and interacted with the artisans from Ladakh.

Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan thanked the Administration for providing a platform in the form of Enchanting Ladakh for artisans from remote areas of Ladakh to showcase their products. He expressed his pleasure in seeing the improvement made by the artisans from Kargil in their products over three years.

Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, stated that Enchanting Ladakh is an opportunity to showcase the diverse cultural identity of Ladakh. He informed about the initiatives taken to provide platforms for artisans to showcase their work. He highlighted the value additions made by artisans in their products.

MP Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal highlighted the various development activities taking place in Ladakh, including the identification of talented artisans from remote areas of Ladakh, after the formation of Ladakh as a Union Territory.

Development Commissioner, Handicrafts, Shubhra; Commissioner/Secretary, GAD, Ajeet Kumar Sahu; Commissioner/Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Saugat Biswas and other officials from Ladakh were present at the event.
