42 teachers participate in Art & Theatre workshop at DIET Leh
The District Institute of Education and Training Leh successfully concluded a five-day Art and Theatre Workshop on February 14 under the National Population Education Programme.
A total of 42 volunteer teachers from various schools across Leh participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
The training was conducted under the guidance of resource persons Tsetan Angchuk, retired senior teacher and artist, and Skalzang Dorje Likir, pottery artist. Participants received hands-on training in pottery techniques and explored different forms of creative clay art.
Alongside visual arts, teachers were also introduced to traditional performing arts including Khatok Chhenmo, Jabro dance, drama activities, expression techniques, and script-writing skills. The sessions focused on integrating art and theatre pedagogy into classroom teaching to promote effective and joyful learning.
The concluding ceremony was graced by Padma Dechen, Zonal Education Officer Leh, as Chief Guest. She appreciated DIET Leh for organising meaningful capacity-building programmes and encouraged teachers to adopt creative methodologies in schools.
Tsering Yangdol, HOD DIET Leh, welcomed the Chief Guest and congratulated participants for their dedication and active involvement throughout the workshop.
Programme Coordinator Tsering Tundup expressed gratitude to the resource persons, participants, and organising team for their patience, creativity, and impressive display of talent in art and theatre activities.
The workshop strengthened teachers’ artistic skills and equipped them with innovative teaching approaches, contributing to holistic student development in line with educational goals.
