Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism & Culture reviews status of ongoing developmental works in Kargil
Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism, Culture, Labour and Employment, UT Ladakh, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan reviewed the progress of ongoing works, both physical and financial, of various departments at the Tourism Development Authority Office, Kargil on October 13.
Assistant Labour Commissioner, Kargil; Deputy Director (Employment), Kargil; Senior Librarian, District Library, Kargil besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
The Commissioner/Secretary sought details regarding the status of ongoing and new works and expenditures under the State sector and SDP as of September 30, 2023. He also reviewed the performance of departments during the period from April to September 2023.
He instructed the officials from the Labour Department to conduct a thorough review of both the expenditure and the progress of ongoing projects. He emphasized the need to expedite the booking of payments against work done so that the released funds are spent expeditiously.
The Commissioner/Secretary emphasized the importance of expediting the process of recording expenditures in line with the physical accomplishments achieved thus far.
He directed the concerned officers to provide facilities in the district and sub-district libraries, which are functional as of date. He emphasized that the ongoing work on the district library building be completed at the earliest without compromising the quality & quantity as per the DPR.
Comprehensive discussion and deliberation took place concerning the ongoing works and booking of payment of verified work done bills. Commissioner/Secretary directed the concerned officials to ensure that all expenses and billing status are submitted by the end of October 2023.
Earlier, the Commissioner/Secretary chaired a meeting to discuss ongoing works under SDP and the State Sector in the Kargil district with the officers of the Tourism Department and Tourism Development Authority, Kargil.
During the meeting, detailed discussion and deliberations took place and the Commissioner/Secretary took an assessment of the status of the physical and financial progress of various infrastructure works.
The Commissioner/Secretary directed that under the State Sector as well as SDP maximum booking of verified work done bills must be done to achieve maximum expenditure by the end of October.
He directed to ensure the timely completion of projects so that new projects can be conceived and planned.
Further, he reiterated that the newly approved works under SDP must be undertaken for the preparation of DPR. The Commissioner/Secretary also directed to expedite the tendering process of approved works where administrative approval has been accorded.
The Commissioner/Secretary also asserted that the excess/surrender statement should be submitted before October 20.
