Zonal level inter-school tournament concludes
The zonal level inter-school tournament for high and higher secondary schools of Khaltse zone concluded on July 22 at Government Higher Secondary School, Khaltse.
The tournament was organised by District Youth Services and Sports Department Leh in which a total of 12 school participated in the tournament.
Councillor Khaltse, Lobzang Sherab was chief guest whereas BMO Khaltse Dr. Yangchan Dolma was guest of honour on the occasion. Teachers, physical education teachers and students were also present during the occasion.
In the category of boys handball, final match was played between High School Lamayuru and High School Wanla in which GHS, Lamayuru won the match by 4-2.
Councillor, Lobzang Sherab emphasized that students should participate in various sports played at school level and national level. He directed the physical education teachers to teach basic techniques of sports to the students.
During the closing ceremony a cultural programme was also showcased by girl students of GHS, Tia.
In the category of Volleyball girls, the winning position was bagged by GHS, Tia and in the boy’s category the winning position was bagged by GHS, Achinathang
In the category of Football boys, the winners were GHS, Wanla and in the girls category the winners were GHS, Achinathang.
In the category of Handball boys, the winners were GHS, Lamayuru and in the girls category the winner were GHS, Lingshed.
Similarly, in the division of Higher secondary schools, the winning trophy of Handball boys was bagged by GHSS, Tingmosgang and in the girl’s category the winning trophy was bagged by GHSS, Tingmosgang.
In the category of Volleyball boys, the winners were GHSS, Khaltse and in the girls category the winners were GHSS, Khaltse.
In the category of Football boys, the winners were GHSS, Khaltse and in the girls category the winners were GHSS, Khaltse.
The individual sports included two events, which were 10km marathon and 100m race. In the division of high schools GHS, Lingshed won 2 gold medals, 2 bronze medals and 2 silver medals, GHS, Achinathang won 2 gold medals, GHS, Lamayuru won 2 silver medals, GHS, Tia won 1 bronze medal, GHS, Domkhar Gongma won 1 bronze medal and GHS, Hanu Yokma won 1 bronze medal.
In the division of higher secondary schools, GHSS, Khaltse won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals, GHSS, Tingmosgang won 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal, GHSS, Skurbuchan won 1 gold medal and GHSS, Biama won 1 gold medal.
