Three-day intramural sports event concludes at GDC Zanskar
GDC Zanskar celebrated National Sports Day 2024 with a three-day intramural sports competition from August 28 to 31. Organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the event was designed to promote health, wellness, and teamwork among students.
The competition also welcomed staff and students from Model Public School Padum, who participated in a seminar followed by exciting table tennis matches. Mustafa Ali, Director of Physical Education, emphasized the importance of prioritizing health and fitness. "Healthy habits start young, and students must integrate fitness into their daily routines," he said, commending the students for their enthusiasm and dedication.
Four teams competed in the table tennis event, showcasing their skills and determination. In the women's singles final, Zafina Akhtar of Team Penzila emerged victorious against Falzang Angmo of Team Singey La. The women's doubles title was claimed by Khalida Banoo and Falzang Angmo of Team Singey La, while Jigmat Akar of Team Penzila won the men's singles title. The men's doubles title went to Rigzin Chosfail and Tsering Lundup of Team Omasi La.
Mohd Iqbal, Principal of Model Public School Padum, also highlighted the significance of maintaining good health. Prof. Ashan Ali, officiating Principal of GDC Zanskar, noted the palpable energy and enthusiasm of the students throughout the event. "We are proud to foster healthy competition and sportsmanship among our students and look forward to more exciting events like this," he said, while also appreciating the Department of Physical Education and Sports for organizing the event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mustafa Ali, College Director of Physical Education and Sports.
