Royal Enfield Ice Hockey league set to begin from January 3-13 in Leh
The inaugural Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League organised in collaboration with UT Ladakh and the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh, is set to kick off in Leh from January 3 to 13, 2024.
The league's commencement was marked by a vibrant roadshow, featuring a spirited bike rally showcasing flags representing each participating team. The rally commenced from the NDS Indoor Stadium on December 28.
Tsewang Dolma, Program Lead of Social Mission Ladakh at Eicher Group Foundation (the CSR arm of Royal Enfield), addressed the audience. She provided insights into the league, highlighting it as a groundbreaking initiative by Royal Enfield aimed at propelling Indian ice hockey from the Himalayas onto the global platform.
Dolma revealed the selection of 15 teams from 7 zones, comprising 10 boys' teams and 5 girls' teams. She also announced substantial cash rewards for the winners, to be conferred on January 13.
In a ceremonial event held at Leh Main Market, jerseys were officially presented to the captains of the 15 teams representing various zones across Ladakh. This was followed by a flag ceremony at the NDS Stadium, where the captains proudly unveiled their jersey numbers.
The gathering witnessed the presence of members from Ladakh Winter Sports Club, who extended their best wishes and support to all the participating teams, fostering an atmosphere of encouragement and camaraderie.
