Interschool tournament 2024 concludes with grand ceremony at Zonal HQ-Taisuru
The final ceremony of the U14, U17, and U19 Boys and Girls Volleyball, Handball, Football, and Athletics Interschool Tournament-2024 concluded on June 16 at the Zonal Headquarters in Tai-Suru.
This event marked the culmination of a thrilling and competitive series of matches, showcasing the exceptional talent and sportsmanship of young athletes from various schools across the region.
The tournament, which commenced on June 11, 2024, saw enthusiastic participation from numerous schools. Over the past six days, 1,844 young players and athletes from 25 schools competed in a variety of sports, including Volleyball, Handball, Football, and Athletics, demonstrating remarkable skill, teamwork, and dedication.
Councilor Taisuru, Abdul Hadi, who was the chief guest, applauded the efforts of the young athletes and emphasized the importance of sports in holistic education. He assured the deserving players of the provision of sports equipment to help them perform their best and conferred a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to the award and medal winners.
In his address, Councilor Hadi highlighted that sports not only foster physical fitness but also instill values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. “The talent displayed by our young athletes over the past weeks is truly commendable. Such tournaments are crucial in nurturing the future champions of the region. Winning and losing do not matter in sports. Active involvement in sports activities is what matters,” he said.
I/c SHO Panikhar, Mohd Hadi, presented a cash prize of Rs 1,000 to the best-performing athlete of the 10Km athletic event, Mohd Baqir from HSS Biama Purtilchey.
The ZPEO Taisuru and the organizing committee expressed gratitude to the Block Medical Officer, Taisuru, and their medical team for deploying doctors, male and female medical staff, a first aid team, and two ambulances during the event. They also thanked the SHO Panikhar for providing police vehicles and personnel.
During the concluding ceremony, the U17 Boys’ Volleyball Final Match was played between NPHS Taisuru and EGPHS Kargee, with NPHS Taisuru winning the match by 2 sets. The event concluded with the distribution of medals, trophies, and certificates to the winning and runner-up teams and outstanding athletes.
The organizers look forward to hosting more such events in the future, continuing to nurture and celebrate the sporting talent of the youth.
