8th National School Games U-19 Table Tennis championship concludes

The four-day 68th National School Games 2024-25 Table Tennis Championship for Under-19 Boys and Girls, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, concluded on October 8 at the NDS Sports Complex.

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) B.D. Mishra (Retd), attended the closing ceremony, where he commended Secretary of DYSS UT Ladakh, Vikram Singh Malik, and former Rajya Sabha MP, Tarun Vijay, for their efforts in organizing the championship.

The Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to the participants from various states and Union Territories, highlighting their contributions to the event's success. He emphasized the importance of a healthy mind and body, noting that while studies and knowledge keep the mind fresh, engaging in sports is vital for physical fitness.

In a notable statement, the LG remarked that this is the first time the National School Games Table Tennis Championship has been held in Ladakh, marking a significant achievement for the region. He urged players to train aspiring table tennis athletes, encouraging them to focus on collective success rather than individual glory. He also called upon participants from different states and UTs to promote sportsmanship and adhere to the Fundamental Duties outlined in the Indian Constitution.

During the ceremony, he presented trophies to the winners of the U-19 Table Tennis Championships, including Vanshika Mudgal from Delhi (U-19 Girls Singles Champion), S Das from West Bengal (U-19 Boys Singles Champion), Team Delhi (Winners of U-19 Girls Team Event), and Team Maharashtra (Winners of U-19 Boys Team Event). He also recognized officials from the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and the President of the Table Tennis Association of UT Ladakh.

Earlier, Secretary of Youth Services and Sports, Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, welcomed the audience and highlighted the participation of approximately 300 players from 19 states and 5 Union Territories in the four-day event.
