20-day Ice Hockey training for girls concludes in Kargil

The District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, under the Social and Tribal Welfare Department, Kargil, successfully concluded a 20-day Ice Hockey training program for over 50 girls under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme. The training was held at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium, Kargil, from January 22 to February 8.

The closing ceremony at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium was attended by Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi; District Program Officer, ICDS Kargil, Nargis Banoo; District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kargil, Abid Ali; District Coordinator, Mission Shakti Kargil, Niyaz Hussain; Gender Specialist, Mission Shakti, Aamina Bano; along with staff members from the District Hub for Empowerment of Women, DYSS, parents, children, and participants.

During the event, District Program Officer, Nargis Banoo, emphasized the importance of girls' participation in sports and highlighted the significance of the BBBP scheme in empowering young girls. Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, encouraged the participants to continue pursuing sports and spoke about future opportunities available for both boys and girls in the field.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and mementos to coaches and meritorious participants in recognition of their dedication and performance.
