Over an extra-marital affair, a 50-year-old woman was beaten to death by another woman, 43, on April 2 in Sriyul village, Nyoma block, Changthang.

 

The case was registered under FIR no. 3/2018 at the police station, Nyoma and the accused was arrested and charged under section 302 RPC.

In this regard, a press conference was convened on April 4 at SSP office, Leh.

 

Sargun Shukla, SSP said, “On April 2 around 8 am, information received at the police station, Nyoma regarding a woman who was injured and in serious condition.  When the police team reached the spot, a body of the deceased Dolma Tashi was found brutally assaulted and killed by the accused Tsering Dolkar”.

 “After investigating the incident we found that the whole incident took place over an extra-marital affair of the deceased with the husband of the accused. Reportedly the accused had a quarrel with her husband on the night before the incident and saw him coming out of the deceased house early morning. Furious over that she had a fight with the husband first and an hour later she assaulted the deceased”, she added.

The deceased was a widow with 4 children and was in the illegitimate affair with the man for a very long time. Whereas, the accused is a mother of three children.

Talking about the relation, Sargun Shukla said, “The illicit relation of the two was old and the accused used to have frequent quarrels with the deceased. The matter was also tried to solve by the village head once. Despite asking them to end the illicit relationship, they used to meet each other."

However, the husband of the accused is missing from the day and the search is going on to apprehend him. The case is under further investigation and the accused is under police remand.
