Week long Bakula Education Campaign begins in Leh

The week long Bakula Rinpoche Education Campaign 2015 kicks on 16th April by flagging off by Chief Executive Councilor, Rigzin Spalbar at Bakula Shradhanjali Park Leh.
KC Groups of Institution Punjab has accepted the proposal of Leh Hill Council to accommodate at least 50 best students annually with free education and coaching in important professional fields like medical, engineering, managements, NDA, hospitality etc.
CEC further said that as many as 500 needy Ladakhi students could get access to Post Matric Scholarship, under-graduate and post-graduate courses through this Institution with provision of basic coaching in final for Civil Service exams availing full sponsorship from Govt. of India’s scheme. He said that the time has truly come for the underprivileged Ladakhi students to avail such benefit and achieve their dreams.
Highlighting the basic concept of launching Bakula Education Campaign in Leh 12 years before and making it an annual feature, Spalbar said that we were somehow managed to register a success story of 5% in 2004-05 to 76% results last year at matriculation level. But it can’t be a satisfying achievement, we need to do a lot more in improving management system of Education deptt., better delivery of education to the students and need of increasing the enrolment of students in every nook and corners of Ladakh. Spalbar, in general, credited the collective efforts of all the stakeholders for improving the results in Govt schools and made a special mention of taking extra pain by teaching community in this regard.
To unearth the past lapses and to bring solutions for further improvement of education, CEC stressed the need to do self-introspection by the functionaries of Education Deptt, teaching community, parents as well as students and play their role with utmost potentiality and responsibility.
He said with the hard efforts of all the stakeholders, the credibility of the Govt. schools have regained over the years and now all the Govt schools of Leh district are capable of imparting the best education to the students of rural areas.
He also highlighted the greatest contribution of late Bakula Rinpoche in promoting the essence of education in those days when the entire Ladakh was unaware of the power of literacy. He said that whatever Ladakh has achieved today in terms of education, progress and prosperity are the results of visionary initiatives of late Bakula.
On this occasion, the Executive Councilor Agriculture, Sonam Dorje, Executive Councilor Health, Dr. Sonam Wangchuk, Executive Councilor Tourism Mohd. Shafi Lassu, Executive Councilor Sheep & Animal Husbandry Gurmet Dorje, the Councilors of LAHDC, Addl, DC, Leh Rakesh Kumar, officers of Education Dept., senior lecturers and teachers were present.
Earlier, the Chief Education Officer, Tsewang Phuntsog gave a brief summary of holding the Bakula Education Campaign with this year themes.
To open the week-long education campaign in Leh district, CEC flagged off the campaigners from Leh whereunder education campaigns at all zonal level will be held under the aegis of Executive Councilors.
