Traffic awareness campaign commences in Kargil to promote road safety
Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, CEC, LAHDC, Kargil inaugurated a traffic awareness campaign rally from the Council Secretariat, Kargil on January 15. This initiative is part of the National Road Safety Month, observed from January 15 to February 14, aimed at encouraging road users to adopt safe behaviors, thereby minimizing accidents and reducing injuries or fatalities.
The event witnessed the presence of significant officials, including EC Social Welfare/Agriculture, Aga Syeed Mujtaba Mussavi, EC PDD/Education, Zakir Hussain, ADC Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani, DySP Traffic, Manzoor Ahmed, and ARTO Kargil, Khadim Hussain.
The rally, traversing through the main market, concluded at the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) office in Kargil. Following the flag-off, DySP Traffic, Manzoor Ahmed, participated in an awareness program on "Road Safety Month" organized by ARTO Kargil at its office.
Addressing the gathering, DySP Traffic emphasized the severe impact of road accidents on families and urged citizens to strictly adhere to traffic rules for the safety of all. He particularly urged young drivers to avoid reckless driving, highlighting the importance of seat belts in saving lives during accidents.
ARTO Kargil, Khadim Hussain, stressed the significance of Road Safety Month in mobilizing all stakeholders, including Administration, Transporters, Commuters, pedestrians, and the public, to contribute to reducing road accidents. He called upon transport operators to diligently follow traffic safety measures and foster a collective commitment to safer roads.
Highlighting the month's events and activities, Khadim Hussain provided an overview of the initiatives aimed at promoting safer road practices. Various speakers reiterated the importance of raising awareness among transporters. The event concluded with transporters pledging their commitment to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
