Leh :

The Ladakh Power Development Department (PDD) launched a significant campaign on April 21, 2025, to promote the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana among domestic consumers in Leh.

An awareness camp and on-the-spot registration drive commenced at the Main Market, Leh, with the goal of educating residents about the benefits of installing solar rooftop panels and encouraging their participation in the central government scheme. This ten-day initiative, starting from April 21, provides a platform for households to learn how they can benefit from free electricity through subsidized solar installations.

The PM Surya Ghar scheme offers attractive financial incentives, including combined Central and UT subsidies that cover up to 25% of the total cost of solar rooftop systems for domestic consumers. By adopting this scheme, households can significantly reduce or eliminate their electricity bills and even earn income by selling surplus power back to the grid.

The ongoing camp in Leh's Main Market, supported by various vendors, provides detailed information on eligibility criteria, the installation process, and the potential savings and benefits associated with the scheme.

The Power Development Department encourages all interested domestic consumers in Leh to visit the awareness camp within the next ten days to learn more about this initiative. The department also invites applications through the online portal at www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

This campaign is a crucial step in promoting sustainable energy adoption and empowering Leh residents with a cost-effective, environmentally friendly power solution.
