Police Martyrs' day commemorated in Kargil; families of martyrs honored
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, attended the Police Martyrs' Day event at District Police Lines, Kargil, on October 21.
The event was also attended by Executive Councillor for Tourism, Kacho Mohd Feroz; Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kargil, Mujeeb ur Rehman; Deputy SP Headquarters, Nitin Yadav; Deputy SP DAR, Tundup Dorjay; Deputy SP CID, Mohd Hussain, and other officers and officials.
In his address, Dr. Jaffer Akhoon paid homage to the police personnel who sacrificed their lives in service of the nation. He commended the people-friendly approach of the police force and their ongoing welfare programs for the community.
The CEC offered heartfelt tributes to the late Zulfiqar Ali from Umba, Mohd Raza from Karkitchoo, and all other martyred police personnel across the country. He also announced a contribution of Rs 5 lakh from the untied fund to the Police Welfare Fund, through SSP Kargil, for the purchase of furniture and fixtures.
He emphasized that the Hill Council, Kargil, is committed to addressing the concerns of police personnel and extended his condolences to the victims of the recent militant attack in Gagangeer, Ganderbal. He urged the UT Administration of J&K and the Government of India to take strict action against the culprits.
Earlier, ASP Mujeeb ur Rehman spoke about the bravery and sacrifices made by police personnel in protecting the country. He expressed gratitude to all the police officers who laid down their lives this year.
During the event, the families of Martyr Zulfiqar Ali and Martyr Mohd Raza were honored in recognition of their supreme sacrifice.
