One day Breeders camp held in Baroo
Many farmers from Shargole Sub-Division and Kargil Block participated.Executive Councilor for Sheep and Animal Husbandry and Zanskar Affairs, LAHDC, Kargil Tsering Angdus was the Chief Guest and Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Kargil Hassan Khan was the guest of honor.
Retired Deputy Director Sheep Husbandry J&K and Famous Pashmina Expert of Ladakh Dr. Tsering Phunchok briefed the breeders about ways of promotion of Pashmina and role of Breeders in boosting the Pashmina Production. Pashmina production has been boosted all over the world from Iran to Tajikistan, Tibet Pakistan-Afghanistan.
Despite having high-quality Pashmina Goats and production people of Kargil are not aware of its benefits and economic importance.
Every local Goat in Kargil produces Pashmina and the need of the hour is to make the breeders know about its value and it will be the most lucrative business in Kargil in the years to come added Dr. Phunchok.
Hassan Khan appreciating the efforts of the department told that to uplift the backward and downtrodden families in far-flung areas through these schemes, the department should conduct such camps in far-flung villages.
Answering to a question of a breeder regarding protection from wild animals, he assured the farmers that soon steps will be taken to address these problems.
DC Kargil urged upon the farmers to stick with the profession of farming as in the years to come it will be the main profession people like to opt which will be economical enough.
District Sheep Husbandry Officer Kargil Dr. Niyaz-ul-Hasanain briefed the breeders and officers about the schemes and achievements of the Department which was also appreciated by the breeders.
