Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat, Member of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.), at Raj Niwas on April 26.

During the meeting, the Lt. Governor and Dr. Saraswat discussed a wide range of issues, including developments in Ladakh following its elevation to a Union Territory after the abrogation of Article 370. They also addressed concerns arising from the reduction in the Union Territory’s budget allocation for the 2025-26 financial year, as well as the Government of India’s decision to create five new districts in Ladakh. Additionally, they explored measures to counter the decline in tourism and strategies to increase tourist footfall, with a focus on boosting winter tourism in the region.

In response to queries about Ladakh's expectations from NITI Aayog, Dr. Saraswat assured his full support across all sectors, including backing the significant solar power project in Pang.

The Lt. Governor expressed his appreciation for NITI Aayog's support and mentioned that the UT Administration would identify specific areas where their assistance would be valuable to the overall development and progress of Ladakh.
