New mobile towers to get installed in far flung villages of Ladakh

A delegation of Bhartiya Janata Party Leh Unit under the leadership of Thupstan Chhewang Member of Parliament from Ladakh call on Chief General Manager (CGM) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Jammu Circle at BSNL Complex at Bahu Plaza in Jammu on 10th April. MP Thuptan Chhewang who is also the Chairman of Telecom Advisory Committee for both Leh and Kargil Districts has presented in detail about States of Telecommunication and its ground realities in Ladakh region before the CGM which they consider as the unsatisfactory services of BSNL in the region and he has given many suggestions and strongly advised to the CGM and concerned authorities to improve BSNL services in the region.
While stressing the CGM MP Thupstan Chhewang claimed, “due to not having of fair Telephonic and Internet Connectivity in Ladakh, the residents of the region is being denied many required services which are considered to be the most needy as well as basic amenities in 21st century. We need to set an exemplary service of Telecommunication in Ladakh, the most tourist destination of the world and I have been trying my best possible actions from Central Govt. side to render every possible service to improve the Tele Sector in Ladakh”, MP Thupstan Chhewang highlighted.
After having a detailed discussion between the delegation and the concerned authorities the delegation put up a list of villages and areas where the delegation wanted to install BSNL Towers and Digital Satellite Public Telephones (DSPT).
The list for grant new mobile towers include Shachukul (Chilam-Yerat-Phalongley), Phobrang-Yurgo, Lukung-Pangmik-Mann, Merak-Khaktet, Kargyam (Kherapulu-Barma-Sato-Chibra), Shayok areas in Durkuk Sub-Division, Tsaga, Skakjoong, Demjok, Ronggo, Mudh, Chumur, Korzok, Soomdho, Mahey, Nye-Kesar, Teri, Kyungyam, Hemnya-Khatpu, Tarchit, Tukla-Phulak, Samad-Rokchan, Kharnak in Nyoma Sub-Division, Gya, Miru, Shang villages in Kharu Block, Yarma, Khardong, Teakshi-thang, Beokdang, Skuru-Tertse, Digar-Tangyar and Largyap-Pachathang in Nubra Sub-Division, Hanu, Leh-Dho, Kunksho, Lower Wanla, Kanji, Photoksar, Linshed, Skyindiyang, Aang, Tia, Manggyu areas in Khalsi Block, Chushot belt, Shey and Nang areas of Chushot Block, Saboo left and Skampari in Leh Block, Aksho-Abran and Zangla in Zanskar valley and list of Drass and Kargil areas are already submitted. The list for grant of DSPTs includes Nakpothang, Hanuorng, Skurbuchan-Khangral, Photo-Lalok villages of Leh District and Sking, Surley, Muney Gonpa, Tangzey Juldo and Tashi Tongzey villages in Kargil District. The MP asked the CGM to make functional the installed towers of Manda and Shilingskit in Zangskar valley at the earliest.
After the discussion the CGM assured to visit Ladakh in coming summer and initiate his personal intervention to improve the BSNL services in Ladakh region.
The BJP delegation included Dorjey Mutup, Councilor (Leader Opposition); Gyal P. Wangyal, Councilor LADHC Leh; BJP Leh District Vice President Nazir Ahmad; Sayeeda Ladakhi District Vice President BJP Women Wing Leh; Tashi Dorjey, Sarpanch Kyungyam; Konchok Stanzin BJP Mandal President Durbuk Sub-Division; Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, State Spokseperson & Incharge Ladakh Affairs, BJP Youth Wing J&K and the meeting was attended by all the concerned authorities of BSNL.
