MP Ladakh Haneefa Jan addresses public concerns during Zanskar tour

Member of Parliament (MP) Ladakh, Mohmad Haneefa Jan visited the Lungnak Block and met with locals to hear their concerns.

Member of Parliament (MP) Ladakh, Mohmad Haneefa Jan, conducted a three-day intensive tour of the Zanskar Sub-Division, addressing public grievances and inspecting key development areas. On October 21, he visited the Lungnak Block and met with locals to hear their concerns.

During his visit to Sundu, Zanskar, the MP assessed the boundary issue between Ladakh UT and Himachal Pradesh. He assured the public that this sensitive matter would be escalated to higher authorities. Additionally, he urged both the public and the governments on both sides to avoid any actions until an official decision on the boundary is reached.

At Shinkula Top, it was noted that no officers or officials were present, although a traveler's hut had been established by the Himachal Pradesh government on the macadam road built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

Throughout his tour, the MP met with various public delegations from Pipcha, Raru, Monay Gonpa, Icher, Surlay, Yal, Testa, Kuru, Sking, Kargaik, Tangzay, Marling, and Cha, listening to their grievances and concerns.

Executive Councillor (EC), LAHDC Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi, also accompanied the MP during the tour and inaugurated the D'Julle Caffe and Restaurant at Singkula Top, along with a public park at Raru.

The MP was accompanied by Executive Councilor Er. Punchok Tashi, Councilor of Cha Constituency Stanzin Lakpa, Nominated Councilor Punchok Namgil, ADC Kargil Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani, former Executive Councilor Stanzin Sonam, and other local dignitaries including representatives of the Zanskar Buddhist Association (ZBA), Zanskar Gonpa Association (ZGA), Lumbardars, and District and Sub-Divisional Officers.

A memorandum was submitted to the MP highlighting key issues in the region, including the need for improved education and healthcare facilities, as well as requests for drinking and irrigation canals.

While addressing the public, Councilor Stanzin Lakpa welcomed the MP and expressed gratitude for his first visit to the area since being elected. The EC, Er. Punchok Tashi, informed the public of various projects sanctioned by LAHDC Kargil in favor of Zanskar Sub-Division and congratulated them on the approved initiatives.

MP Haneefa Jan assured the public that their demands would be prioritised and thanked them for their support during his parliamentary election. He reiterated his commitment to working for the overall development and welfare of the entire Ladakh region during his tenure.

Before departing for Leh via the Nimo-Padum-Darcha (NPD) road, the MP also inaugurated a 2.5 km upgraded black-topped link road in Pidmo village.
