Mahabodhi observes World Earth day, carries out mass plantation drive Inaugurates 4 new restrooms at Mahabodhi campus

As a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign, four new toilet facilities for the students and the staff members was inaugurated on April 21 at Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Choglamsar.
Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder of MIMC along with Rajesh Patel and Srinivasan, Founder of Golden mile Learning Trust, Mumbai jointly inaugurated the newly created toilet which was funded by Global Interfaith WASH Alliance.
Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena said, “We must aim to keep our country clean and it is our responsibility to keep the place neat and dream of a clean India.”
He said, “We must have three H mantra that includes heart, head, and hands which indicates the feeling through the heart, thinking through the head and acting through the hands. All these H together can make miracles.”
Also, on the eve of World Earth Day, a mass plantation drive was carried out in the Mahabodhi campus. Founders of Golden Mile, school students and the members of Mahabodhi planted apricot orchards.
The plantation drive was organised in collaboration with Global Interfaith WASH Alliance (GIWA), and Save the Himalaya Foundation.
Srinivasan, Founders of Golden Mile said, “We have been associated with Ladakh since 2013 and trying to bring digital education in Ladakh and a golden future and that’s how our name has come as Golden Mile”.
He further added, “In the world, we find that there is a huge amount of digital resources available in the field of education which have to be connected to educate in a different way apart from the books”.
“We are now prevalent in about 25 schools of the remote part Ladakh and closely associated with around 5000 children. Environment, employment, and education are the three aspects which have to go very closely together, so we are absolutely committed," he added.
Congratulating the founders of the Golden mile for the concern and support to Ladakh, Bhikku Sanghasena said, “We Ladakhi wish to keep the purity and beauty of Ladakh and the Himalayas.”
He urged everyone to plant more trees and protect the ecosystem. Students presented a cultural performance during the occasion.
