A meeting was held at the Council Secretariat with CEC of the Hill Council, Leh, Tashi Gyalson on November 1, to discuss the implementation of Project Vision Himalaya. It was agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between LAHDC Leh and the Vision Himalaya Society for a duration of 15 years.

Attendees included Nyoma Councillor Ishey Spalzang, DC/CEO LAHDC Leh Santosh Sukhadeve, Health Director Dr. Tashi Thinles, Deputy CMO & I/C CMO Leh Dr. Jamila Perveen, Medical Superintendent Rinchen Chosdol, Founder President Lama Konchok Samstan, and General Secretary Dr. Thinles Dorjey.

This collaboration aims to enhance healthcare services in the region, with a particular focus on dental care and cancer diagnostics. The primary goal of Project Smile Himalaya is to work alongside LAHDC to optimize the use of a mobile medical van, ensuring effective and accessible healthcare delivery to remote communities.

Following the formal signing of the MoU, the first health camp is scheduled for November 20 in the Nyoma constituency. LAHDC will provide driver support and a team of medical personnel, with the Health Director and CMO overseeing the execution of the camps. These camps will focus on screenings for Helicobacter pylori infections, dental services, cervical cancer screenings, and mammography.

This partnership seeks to deliver long-term healthcare services to underserved populations in Ladakh while also organizing educational and health awareness initiatives to improve community well-being.
