Jammu :
Hundreds of students representing both the distict of Ladakh gathered at University of Jammu to demonstrate a strong resentment against the New Recruitment Policy proposed by the Government recently under the aegis of All Ladakh Students' Joint Action Committee on 26th April in Jammu.
Activists of All Ladakh Student Joint Action Committee said that the new recruitment policy is against the interests of large numbers of unemployed youth of State and is designed to trample their genuine aspirations.
“We believe it will create scope for political interference in the process of selection as well as ascertaining the performance. It would also be a setback for the reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, RBA, etc because as per the new job policy, the recruitment shall be made on contractual basis taking into account only the merits of the candidates and there shall be no division of posts for reserved categories,” the committee said.
“We strongly opposed the provision of seven years duration of the contractual recruitment and the uncertainty on making them permanent after the seven years seems a very vague provision. Also the provision of performance basis could create another problem of political interference and in addition, it will create malpractices like nepotism, favouritism and frustration which ultimately may lead to mass corruption and huge loss to the state’s economy. Thus, we are demanding for rollback of the new recruitment policy,” the committee demanded.
“The mass transfers of 114 lecturers to Ladakh region just before the announcement of new recruitment policy would be very harmful for those Ladakhi youths, who have acquired the necessary qualification for being appointed as lecturer on contractual basis,” the ALSJAC said.
Asgar Ali Karblai, member of legislative assembly also participated in the protest to address the stong disagreement with 'New Recruitment Policy' among the youth of distrcit Leh and Kargil.
MLA gave a patient hearing to the cause of resentment and assured for an early raising of the issue in assembly proceedings. He suggested the students to hold such demonstrations unitedly whenever a policy goes against the interest of Ladakh's youth.
